Two years later and I return to this feeling once more, as 'leaks' from a release for this week's 'global release day' start spreading on the internet as parts of the world start getting information on a single and album release that will only officially be available at 00:00 friday... for those who aren't then yet.
So, I follow a band. On bandcamp. I got this message from them:
Hello dearest Bandcamp followers,
Just wanted to drop in give you a special wee thank you for following and supporting us through Bandcamp. You lot truly are the realest of the real, directly interacting with our music like this is what makes the difference for a band.
In the age of streaming and social media virality campaigns, it’s fans like you guys that really keep the lights on.
We have just released our new single [...]
I like it. It makes sense to me. Only...
...well, after praising their bandcamp followers and saying how nice it all is, the link to the new single should be pointing to bandcamp, right? No, it's a linkfire pointing to mainstream streaming and digital musical platforms: spotify, youtube and youtube music, apple music and itunes store, amazon music...
So what good is your nice prose to praise your bandcamp followers, if you're just buttering them up to go find your stuff elsewhere? I fell like this message would have felt more honest and genuine if they started straight in the "We have just released our new single" part...

Tyler Bates - Africa Driving
Tenho o disco - a banda sonora do filme "24 hours to live", mas nunca vi o filme pelo que me falta o contexto para entender o que é que ao certo tem esta música a haver com África (suponho que haja uma cena qualquer com um veículo a ser conduzido por paisagens africanas), mas como Africa está no título da música (que abre o disco), acho que conta :-)
Note-se: tenho este disco há anos, e ainda há mais tempo o queria ter, e só hoje, graças à musiquinta, abri a página da wikipédia sobre o filme, chegando à conclusão que não só é um filme de acção como a capa do disco (e poster do filme) mostra bem, como é um filme de ficção científica! (desta não estava à espera), e agora começo a pensar que se calhar até deveria ver visto o filme...
Esta #musiquinta é sobre géneros musicais que só tu sabes que existem (ou qualquer coisa assim), e então eu trago aqui música #PostCyberPunk com os #kokori - e desafio-vos a encontrarem outras bandas deste género! 😈

20 years ago I got my Motorola ROKR E1 phone.
With it I could make videos, use for tethering, send and receive MMSs, install and even make applications for it, use it as an SSH client, setting my own music as a ringtone... all things that the iPhone wouldn't let you when it was released and year later.

Havia um grupo de grupos e músicos que participava num desafio musical: "The 20th" tinha uma regra simples - a cada dia 20, fazia-se uma música de raíz, de fio a pavio, e ao terminar o dia envia-se o resultado - que era reunido com todos os outros que eram feitos um pouco por todo o mundo num CD daquele mês.
