it wasn't like they hadn't noticed the growing things peeking out from between the bandages -- some a very non-fleshlike color, and others, equally disturbingly, a very close facimile to it -- but the ritual had had other effects as well.

one thing i've noticed is that, since i've started smoking weed regularly, i'm prone to spontaneously smiling (even if i'm not high, even sometimes if i haven't smoked in more than a week). this is unexpected but i approve -- i think it balances out my RBF a bit. like, i'm fairly chill, but i can't blame anybody for being intimidated by a white guy in combat boots and all black with a shaved head frowning

a weird bias i see in well-meaning social justice circles is treating the earliest instance of an idea as somehow representative of all later variations (especially if that first instance is problematic). for instance, somebody on tiktok noticed that some early discussions of thieves' cants were basically anti-romani propaganda, and implied that the notion of theieves cants was therefore specifically racist against romani people. now, there are a lot of documented 'underworld' cants (mostly language games), some specifically developed for criminal purposes; there's a huge amount of racial and class baggage around most of these, but very little of it relates to the romani at all since they developed in non-romani communities (ex., yob developed among australian youth & verlan among parisian youth, while carny slang, the only of these that's clearly intentionally associated with crime, developed in the united states). furthermore, romani language isn't any sort of cant, so these 16th century documents aren't even describing a real thing. so, it's absurd to claim (for instance, as this person did) that having a notion of thieves' cant in D&D is inherently racist against romani people.

so, every issue of fangoria comes with a poster, but i've noticed -- the posters are (almost) never for a movie i've heard of, or hear about later, or is mentioned in the magazine itself. are the posters for fake movies? or movies that are really far out from release? they all look great tbh

Something I've noticed: gaccha games can suck me in and keep me playing for multiple hours at a stretch, but they are totally incapable of giving me enjoyment, satisfaction, or a sense of accomplishment. Evidence that serotonin and dopamine should not be confused.

I just noticed that novacaine tends to give me deja vu. At least, I think I just noticed it. I might have noticed it the last time I had a filling.

The planet weird folks have been noticing all the 93s in the hellier investigation but have seemingly not clued into all the 23s, which any good discordian would have noticed as a sign of a trickster entity early

The second best way to predict the future is to observe the recent past and talk about it to people who haven't noticed it yet. As time-binding tech becomes increasingly powerful, the period of time most people are aware of shrinks & recedes further from the present, so this is easy.

Hot take: because #hashtags improve discoverability, their use is #gauche and #cringey on the grounds that wanting to be #noticed is an act of #wanton #desperation
