linode's having a major outage (ongoing as of writing, over 24 hours in) and my friend runs a site i help out with on one of their servers. we didn't have recent backups so i got really anxious about possible severe data loss considering the situation with linode doesn't look great (it seems like a really bad incident).

gah i've been so busy working on love4eva! TL;DR i switched image backends from the test/dev only module i was using to the S3 one, but with a catch - i'm not using S3 or cloud shit!!! i instead got it to work with minio, so it's a middle ground between self hosting the image uploads & being compatible with the highly efficient S3 module. i'm super happy with it :)

hey everyone i've spent my whole day trying to set up soju + gamja in docker and now i am down a rabbit hole of building caddy with layer4 support and trying to get TLS for my IRC server and NOTHING IS WORKING

i feel so powerful i wrote a 3 line script that takes an inputted markdown filename from the current working directory and then spits out a nicely formatted html page. pandoc does all the work i did nothing

so i had the idea of adding a page to my otherwise single page girl on the moon personal site that featured my more notable projects, but it's been hours and i CAN'T THINK OF ANYTHING TO ADD THAT I HAVEN'T ALREADY MENTIONED. i just host other people's stuff!!!

guys omg the people behind pico.sh are so nice ;_; one of the people running it emailed me to let me know i had what was likely a malfunctioning (or well, not working as intended) script that was spawning the same SSH tunnel over and over and they wanted to give me a heads up.

and i felt SO BAD because i worried i was straining their service or something so i disabled my 4 tunnels (they were serving little SSH games and services) and got back to them.

but i just woke up to THE NICEST EMAIL EVER reassuring me that i was actually using it as intended, it was just my script that was having problems, and they even said that if it was intended to work that way it was fine and they just wanted to let me know!

so i restarted the tunnels but have since added lockfiles as safeguards so that when the script is run it'll check if it's already running :D

i recorded my first camcorder video!!!! it's just me practicing guitar after sooo long of not playing it. my acoustic, to be specific (well, it's an electric acoustic thing but i can play it without plugging it in lol, i do have a stratocaster though). it's capped at ~30 minutes because i used one mini DVD for it and decided i wasn't gonna use another one to extend the run time. so yeah. it was super fun! i hope i can share it soon, i'm ripping the disc with make MKV right now, then i'll re-encode to a web friendly format, and upload to my site and hope that works well

my camcorder battery & mini dvds came in the mail so i did a test recording! it's so cool i love the crap quality. i do hope the memory stick arrives soon though because for the discs i can't get them on my computer (not even a rom drive filesystem mount) without "finalizing" the disc which is like an old camcorder thing. i still think i'll prefer disc recording though even if a limit of 30 minutes (or longer for lower quality) is strict. i like limitations like that
