For the most part yes, but for things like streaming boxes there aren’t that many options besides Roku, Fire, and Google. Apple is probably the best of the bunch but not perfect. I want to build one with a raspberry pi, but those are so expensive right now.
Smart TVs or streaming boxes, Nest thermostat, etc…
I’ve started to isolate a lot of my IoT devices onto VLANs, because I realized I just don’t trust the companies behind those devices.

That makes sense. Would import take the “follow =“ from the twtxt file?
Either added to the twtxt.txt file or even a way to copy them as plaintext to then be able to paste into a twtxt.txt manually.
@david you can also get crazy good bundles and deals on eBay. We’ve never ran out of things to watch since there are so many good movies and shows. We’ll never consume it all 😂
@david it’s not that different from how we consumed media before streaming, now it’s just cheaper and we own our media. For example, buying the first season of 24 cost us like $5 at our local used bookstore. It would have cost more to do a month of Hulu just to watch the same show. Instead we supported our local business and we own it. After ripping we donate the dvds or let others borrow it. Not too concerned on missing out on the latest, and if we really want to watch something exclusive to streaming we can sign up for a month and then cancel.
@prologic Jellyfin has been one of the most valuable investments when it comes to entertainment. My family is just down to Netflix as a subscription and we’re hoping to cut that out soon too.

What a fun weekend! Friday night I got to go to a baseball game. Then Saturday got to go to see Nate Bargatze with my wife. Lastly, I capped off today by going to see The Odyssey (absolute cinema btw). Lot of socializing this weekend, so I’m ready to have an introvert week.
Went to the A’s game last night. They got destroyed 23-4. I didn’t even know it was possible to score 23 points in a baseball game.
Agreed. A chronological feed of only the people/updates I chose to follow? The future is now! What a time to be alive😆
@david If I'm writing a text only update, there isn't a difference between the preview and the text box, so it goes unused. But, it looks like a handy feature for checking images and links.

It’s wild to me that twtxt.app is a better reddit experience than reddit. Instead of going to reddit, I just scroll my Timeline for updates on my favorite subreddit. No noise. Fast load times. Only the updates I care about.
I can’t be certain, I believe the VPN up changes depending on which server it connects to
@prologic I’m unable to access twtxt.net when I’m on my Proton VPN. I think this impacts twtxt.app when loading images from twtxt.net follows. Sometimes I’ll just get ? instead of an image, but when I turn the vpn off it loads fine.
Wow, every time I open up twtxt.app, it just gets better and better. The new mentions tab is great and being able to click on your follows has made keeping up with my feed much easier.

twtxt.app has been my daily driver since the announcement and it’s been great!
@bender I agree. The community size has been really nice and has honestly made me optimistic about the state of the internet. I lot of the sites I used to enjoy visting have become ensh*tified and it was a breath of fresh air to find a part of the web where that feels almost impossible.
One week microblogging with twtxt and I love it. The community is great. It’s truly decentralized and future-proof. It’s simple and easy to just start posting. I’ve pretty much replaced my rss feeds with twtxt follows. I’ve discovered a true hidden gem of the independent web and I can’t go back to microblogging any other way. To everyone contributing to the twtxt ecosystem, thank you! Y’all are doing awesome work.

That’s so cool. I’ve been meaning to test if my website works on old browsers. I highly doubt it since it’s a lot of JavaScript, but it’s on my todo list to start generating a no-js version.
Movies and TV are moving in this direction too, but at least for now, I can still access a lot of movies and shows on discs (especially from my local library). I can also make backups of my shows and movies if I have the discs available. As time goes on, new tools become available to preserve physical games. Physical games at least gives the chance of future preservation in a world where digital is locked behind DRM- assuming the full game is on the disc.
🕹️ I'm glad Kojima commented on Playstation discontinuing physical discs for games. We need more influential voices speaking up about losing ownership over our media.
For me the problem isn't necessarily about physical vs. digital - it's about DRM. I'll keep harping on this: if you can buy your games on GOG- buy your games on GOG!

It’s definitely possible. I tried to keep everything the same, but there was some funkiness I did when I was in GitHub. Would that also explain why some of my posts show up twice in twtxt.net when replying?
Actually, I think I know what’s happening. The last twt in the thread is more recent than the original twt, so it appears out of order.
🎉 I was looking for a client and this was so easy to get set up with. Really like it so far. I was able to get setup on my desktop and mobile devices seamlessly. I can’t quite wrap my mind around that magic. Great work! Only hiccups I’m encountering is my feed isn’t quite chronological.

I miss the ps2 era of gaming. Withing PS6 dropping physical discs, I'm reminded of how great it is to pop in an old ps2 game and have it run flawlessly. 
Ok, so I think I've set up a good posting solution. I use twtxt to post updates. My site renders those in HTML and generates an RSS feed. The RSS feed is then cross-posted by Micro.Blog. Clean and simple.
Somedays I stop and realize what a privilege it is to be able to make games for a living. It's not a stable career. It's not an easy career. But, when things align, it's a fulfilling career.
I've been trying to figure out an easy way to write micro posts on the internet. I think I've settled on using Twxtxt as my format.
