Hello people!

This is Bryton - and this is a social media site that has really gone barebones on the whole thing. No ads and no “suggested content”, tho, so it’s safe from the auto-bots for now.

I’m working on a writing project or two, and I’d love to discuss some of my ideas I’ve come across in my years of reading. I am of the belief that good a good writer cannot just be anyone, but good writing can be found anywhere. Video games, text books, fiction books, comments sections of lewd videos on the internet, dark disused corners of the HTML-space that are only keeping their lights on by mistake (I have found some absolute gems in places like the wayback machine or internet archive - there are so many amazing unread writers that were caught in this digital web, and I’d love to incorporate their voices into my work.

It is very hard to write in more than one or two voices at a time, though. Ever wonder why movies will have dis slog scenes with 6 or more characters speaking but books kind of prefer to keep it around 3, maybe 4 max? Because one author is maintaining the conversational through line for all the characters, and we kind of max out around 3. Two active participants and one observer. But I want to find a way to incorporate more voices onto a page in a way that feels easy to understand. My current idea involves a lot of different genres and typefaces of fonts, but I’m open to anything other than writing the speaker’s name alongside the text. People don’t introduce themselves before every statement, so doing it in writing throws off the rhythm of a conversation.

If this post is amended to the same HTML file I’ll be like “awesome” and then I’ll try to inject some JavaScript code or something

I am posting here - I’ll just have to have faith that it will end up on a wall somewhere
