@aelaraji I use to be a pot or more a day but have cut that back in the last 4 or so years to just 2-3 cups. Main reason was because I was getting jittery which didn't happen before. I do think it is good to go without periodically (probably applies to more things than coffee) to just reset the system.

I don't drink it often but decaf's taste has gotten better too.

@movq That is a good question, I've been on v0.17.3 for some time. In the past there has been one scheme update that I remember and the there was no issue. Maybe this next week I will try out v0.18 and post back.

I really don't mess with it being on a cron so tend to forget until I need it :-)

@bmallred@staystrong.run

@lyse i appreciate you updating this with that info. been in the weeds at work so haven't been tracking the conversation here much. let me sit on this for a bit because often times the edits are within seconds of first post so maybe maybe i just allow them within a certain time frame or do away with them all together. i really only do it because it bugs me once i notice the typo :)

In reply to: #oknfufq 1 year ago
@bmallred@staystrong.run

@lyse Gotcha. That makes sense. Doesn't hurt the systems but definitely can break the thread.

In reply to: #oknfufq 1 year ago
@bmallred@staystrong.run

@andros Oh, this system has an edit button so I can just update the twt as needed. It's a custom implementation so just kind of through it in when I was building it out.

@bmallred@staystrong.run

@osnews Its been so long and never really thought about it.

  • Arch was great but always had issues.
  • Gentoo was great but not enough patience to compile when I need something quick for work.

I haven't really looked back since I installed Void. Sometimes it is a pain when things don't play well with MUSL but nothing that would make me change course.

In reply to: #4fmwoaq 1 year ago
@bmallred@staystrong.run

@lyse yeah, i have the following as well:

User-agent: *
Disallow: /

now i some middleware that looks at the header, and if they are polite enough to include "bot" in the user agent, they politely get a 404 response.

@lyse thanks for checking! it is a work in progress. i journal as well so may just be a manual process to get some of the data back in, but not going to rush it unless it is dorking someone's feed.

@bmallred@staystrong.run

@bmallred overall this was pretty good and the run-walk intervals kept my heart rate low.

at around 0400 a car came racing (90-100 mph) down gulf blvd towards my direction. it turned its headlights off and actually lost traction at point and skidded a bit. okay, kids. then a bit later i hear the car coming back behind me... so i got as far to the right as i could in case the car skids again. as it passed me i looked over my shoulder and saw a police vehicle a bit back w/o lights on yet. then looking in front another cop and then they blocked the lanes to get the driver to stop. driver decided he wasn't stopping and tried to swerve around the police and ended up ping-ponging between sides of the road. enough of that...

took a wrong turn after going over the first bridge, but luckily it went in a loop. didn't really know exactly where i was going anyways and was just winging it from the get-go.

the rest of the run was pretty uneventful and just a fun experience. crazy idea accomplished.

@prologic 1. allow only members of your pod to submit feeds 2. some kind of captcha (eew) 3. probationary status after submittal which requires review of some sort 4. rate limiting to slow down submissions from the same source

@bmallred good thing i moved my run because no way i was going to be able to finish one after getting home around 0400. it was a fun night out with glenn and ash, but it may take a day or two to recover!

@prologic I use FreeOTP+ from F-Droid and it does what I need. It may be considered bad practice but I do use the import/export functionality to sync devices.

In reply to: #ztdaita 2 years ago
@bmallred@staystrong.run

@prologic do not use it, but gave it a try early on and was not impressed. it gave a good outline of what I asked but then unreliably dorked up all the crucial parts.

I will say though if it is truly learning at the rate they say then it should be a good tool.

@bmallred the run was fine and no issues from it. but taking note that after the run my son stepped on my right foot and it has been extremely painful since. even walking the kids back and forth has been a chore.
